I Love To Go Furniture Shopping
The next-door neighbor had borrowed my husband's echo chainsaw last month. I wanted to get it back before Saturday, one way or another. I wanted it back for Jerry to use and simply because it was ours.
I thought to myself that this is how wars start. If neighbors can't be considerate of each other, how can countries get along. The next-door neighbor, Clark, should have known we would need it back by now. He has been repeatedly inconsiderate over the past three years since we moved here.
As I set the flowers down on the black dining room set, I stood back to admire the good decorating sense I used when I bought it. It looked perfect with the pale green flowered dishes I used. My friends were coming for lunch and I was ready.
Lenore and Clark, her husband, lived right next door. I hoped to get the chance to bring up the borrowed chainsaw during lunch. It wouldn't be the easiest topic to include along with fashions and prices of food. I would try although it wouldn't be easy to fit it in the conversation.
Back in the kitchen, I added mayonaisse to the chicken salad I had made with macaroni and boiled eggs. Yes, it was cold enough. Martha Stewart couldn't have done better. I mentally patted myself on the back. The chicken salad would be served with croissants and lemon squares for dessert.
Well here they come I thought as I went in the hall to answer the front door. Jeana had on a pretty sage green blouse and diamond earrings. Ruba wore a yellow sweater and slacks set. Lenore wore jeans and a sweater. Jeana always wore jeans, even to church.
We chatted and I fixed a drink for each. Then we went into the dining room, I lit the candles and lunch was served. Jeana mentioned that her husband John would be cutting the grass this weekend and there was my opening. I told them Jerry would be cutting down some bushes that were obstructing the windows. I looked at Lenore and casually asked if Clark was finished with our chainsaw.
She said he was and she'd have him bring it over before Saturday. I smiled and thanked her as I spooned out some more chicken salad onto her plate. She said Clark really liked his own poulan chainsaw and used it regularly. We compared prices and decided both had been quality purchases. We would let the guys compare them and see which one lasted the longest.
