From the multi-award winning creators of the smash-hit film cheap Billy Elliot tickets , comes Billy Elliot the Musical. With music by Elton John, book and lyrics by Lee Hall and directed by Stephen Daldry, this highly acclaimed production is set against the historic British miners' strike of the 1980s. Billy Elliot the Musical is a musical based on the 2000 film Billy Elliot. The music is by Sir Elton John, and book and lyrics are by Lee Hall (who wrote the film's screenplay). The musical revolves around motherless Billy, who trades boxing gloves for ballet shoes. The acclaimed tale of a ballet-dancing schoolboy in a mining town in northern England garnered trophies for best musical as well as for director Stephen Daldry — who also helmed the movie — and composer Elton John. Called “EXTRAORDINARILY UPLIFTING” by Time Out New York and “INTOXICATING” by The New York Times, BILLY ELLIOT is a joyous, exciting and feel-good celebration of one boy following his heart and making his dreams come true.
The musical opened in London's West End in 2005 and was nominated for nine Laurence Olivier Awards, winning four including Best New Musical. The work premiered in March 2005 at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London, where it is still showing; it reportedly cost £5.5 million to make (the original film version cost $5 million). The original cast album was released on 10 January 2006. The success of discount Billy Elliot tickets the Musical has led to productions in Australia, on Broadway and elsewhere. The Broadway production opened at the Imperial Theater on 1 October 2008 in previews and officially on 13 November 2008. The West End production was nominated for nine 2006 Laurence Olivier Awards and won four, including Best New Musical. At age thirteen, Liam Mower was the youngest actor to win the award, and the actors were the first to win the award in a shared capacity. Lomas, Maguire, and Mower also jointly received the Theatre Goers' Choice Award 2005 for The Most Promising Newcomer. The production also won The Evening Standard Award 2005, among others.
This year the Broadway production received 15 Tony Award nominations, tied with The Producers for the most nominations ever received by a single show. It won ten Tony Awards, including best musical. The lead actor award was shared by the three boys who opened in the title role, marking the first time in Tony history the award has been shared by three actors. The production was also nominated for ten Drama Desk Awards, winning all ten, including Outstanding Musical, and for nine 2008-09 Outer Critics Circle Awards, wining seven, including Outstanding New Broadway Musical, and also received a Special Achievement Award for its three Billys.

What To Look For When Buying German Wine
Over the last few decades, German wine has acquired a somewhat negative reputation of being cheap and sweet. However, German wine is much more than just Blue Nun, Liebfraumilch and Hock. The country boasts a range of good quality and great tasting wines - you just need to know what to look for and how to get the most from them.
German Whites
The most common white grape grown in Germany is Riesling and this makes arguably the finest German wine available. Riesling is a hardy little grape, being able to withstand the harsh winters that are often present in Germany. It produces a wine that is generally light in body and alcohol and that ranges from dry and crisp to sweet and unctuous. Riesling makes a great aperitif and also works well with spicy foods. Other white German wines, a little more unusual perhaps but certainly worth a taste, are Silvaner, Muller-Thurgau and Pinot Gris.
German Reds
If red wine is more your thing, you should taste Spatburgunder. You may have come across this as Pinot Noir in other wine growing countries and it makes a deliciously fine and fruity wine. Red wine is harder to produce in the German climate but another good grape definitely worth a try is Dornfelder, which is generally darker and richer.
Understanding the Language
To help you in your quest for German wines, you might need a hand with the language and terminology. “Troken” is a good word to know, as it indicates that a wine is dry. If you see “Kabinett” Riesling, this means that the wine will be very light and crisp. “Spatlese” Rieslings will have more flavour and sweetness than a Kabinett wine, whereas “Auslese” Rieslings are sweeter, richer and fuller again.
Eiswein
If you fancy tasting a more unusual German wine then “Eiswein”, which literally means “Ice wine”, is common in Germany and might appeal. Eiswein is a tasty sweet German wine, which is packed full of fruit flavours. It is made from grapes which are left on the vine until it is cold enough for the water in the grapes to freeze. This concentrates the sugars without adding any flavours. However, it’s worth bearing in mind that Eiswein is not the cheapest German wine that you will come across, as the tricky grape picking process makes it quite expensive to produce.
