As a large group of spectators watched from the sidewalk, limousine Obama arrived in early 14:00 ET its meeting with President Bush and first lady Laura Bush. The caravan was worthy of the next President of the United States.
The Dana Perino White House described the meeting as "constructive, friendly and relaxed."
Of course! It should be one of the moments most unique in history with nearly all recorded steps. What impressed me most was the difference in behavior of Bush and Obama. Obama looked cool, trim, genuine, and of course happy: a child looking Christmas tree on Christmas morning. Bush looked tired, overwhelmed and depressed. Eight years as president of the United States does for a man.
Obama seems to see what four years from now!
The meeting between U.S. President and his successor is a tradition, but this year the private sector sit-down comes earlier than usual. The schedule reflects the seriousness of the challenges that Obama will inherit - two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and a slowdown economic decline. Bush and Obama is scheduled to consider both issues, although the president and president-elect were the only two to meeting and it was not offered a reading of the meeting.
And Obama wanted to inherit this?
