Calvin Klein CK One - Genderless Scents
Eclectic fashion designs, wild parties, new wave music and rich, opulent perfumes marked the 80s. The decade paved the way for a lot new beginnings and people began to embrace changes. Gender roles were redefined and same goes with fragrances.
Androgynous fragrances or shared fragrances, in the perfume parlance, conquered the 90s. Unisex fragrances have been around since time immemorial. Remember 4711 by Muelhens? But it was Calvin Klein who made genderless fragrances an olfactory experience.
The fragrance house of Calvin Klein introduced CK One in 1994. Perfumers Alberto Morillas and Harry Fremont created a refreshing fragrance redolent of lemony accords and lingering musk undertones. The fragrance notes are bergamot, cardamom, pineapple, papaya, hedione hig cis, violet, rose, nutmeg, musk, amber and lots of green tea accords.
CK One is minimalistic and devoid of any complex accords. It’s straightforward freshness in a bottle. CK One is also one of those fragrances that have many versions. Every year Calvin Klein introduces a new CK One – reinvented and enhanced.
CK One (1994) is lemony fresh. It’s the kind of freshness that carries a light musky base. Some think that it’s more feminine than masculine but then again, chemistry will only tell.
CK One Grafitti (2003) is pretty much the same as the parent except for the bottle. As for the sillage, it doesn't perform that well.
CK One Scene (2005) is a woody-floral musk. Flowers and ginger add excitement to the usual fresh-clean aroma of the fragrance.
CK One Electric (2006) is another pleasant citrus fragrance with an elegant musky base. It’s a nice casual citrus scent that lasts without having to smell like an air freshener.
CK One Summer (2004) started a tradition of summer flankers that plays around with different accords each year. This 2010, CK One surprises its fans with a succulent explosion of watermelon and citrus notes.
