How did my teacher flatten a water bottle even though the lid is still on?
And no the answer is not that he squeezed the water bottle and put the lid on it. There is some scientific way.
he could have lowered the temperature suddenly and dramatically..
maybe this is how he did it...
1. fill the bottle with hot, or warmed air, maybe heated it above a heat source or in hot water....
2. put the bottle in the refrigerator, or a tub of cold water.
gas at high temperature exerts more pressure and takes more volume.. so quickly cooling the gas will reduce pressure inside the bottle, making it less than atmospheric pressure, so the outside pressure would flatten the bottle.
or maybe some kind of chemical reaction took place in which the reactants were gasses, and the products were liquids or solids
